Overland Park, KS, Friday Morning (September)

Six plus six was twelve, and twelve was the same as one, if you were talking about months first and then switched to years. The bottom line was, Kate and Bod had now been an item for a whole year in total. (There really was no need to talk about that four month gap between the first and second six month stretches. Because that was just a really fucking depressing topic all around.) And that was a huge fucking deal.

Enough of a huge fucking deal for it to be the first thing Kate become conscious of as she woke up this morning, all warm and tangled up with Bod, in their bed, in their room, just like they had been every night for the past week or so. That alone would've made her happy, but remembering the anniversary made her doubly so.

So, as much as it saddened her to do it, she tried slowly disentangling herself from her pale, pale boyfriend, so she'd be able to slip out of bed in her panda-print tunic. There was something she wanted to get from downstairs.

Kate laughed, raising an eyebrow at him. "No, I have frosting on my cheek because you're a dork."

And obviously, she had to retaliate with a bit of frosting on the tip of his nose.

"But, I didn't bake these delicious cupcakes!" Bod protested, trying to smear the frosting more into her cheek now that she'd taken revenge. "I'm supposed to be the taste tester!"

Laughing, Kate tried to bat his hand away while still keeping her cupcake safe from harm.

"Well I don't see you testing the taste right now!"

"Well, I was going to lick it off your cheek but I suppose you don't want that," Bod said oh so haughtily. He did pick his cupcake up and gave it a nice lick just for her.

"Objection!" Kate exclaimed, snickering. "I never said that!"

[therewaslife]

"It was implied," Bod pointed out, shaking his head sadly. "I'm sorry to say, it was very, very implied."

It hadn't been that implied. "And now I won't taste test off your cheek."

[vanillajello]

"Oh bullshit, that was so not implied and you know it," Kate scoffed. "Are you gonna make me clean up my cheek myself, now?"

"Are you expecting me to clean it?" Bod wondered innocently.

[vanillajello]

"Yes," Kate replied, exaggerating how obvious that should have been with her tone. She paused to actually take a bite out of her cupcake. "I don't feel like going to the bathroom to wash my face."

"You're so lazy," Bod laughed, shaking his head. "Do you have a napkin that I can use to help you?"

"Thought you were supposed to lick it off me," she pointed out with a smirk. "I didn't bring napkins up with me."

[therewaslife]

"...do you actually want me to lick it off you?" Bod wondered, curious. He could see her wanting that so he decided to ask to see if she'd be honest or coy.

"No, I'm just saying that for funsies," kate drawled, rolling her eyes. "Come on. That's not something I would say to randomly deceive you."

"I might distract you from your cupcake consumption," Bod pointed out even if he was already sliding closer to her.

[vanillajello]

"Dude, I'm a grown woman, I can handle both at the same time," Kate replied, snickering. "It's our anniversary. A cupcake and your tongue on my skin is the very least that should happen."

"You're not bossy at all," Bod joked, using his thumb to get off a tiny amount of the frosting from her cheek. "I wouldn't think licking frosting off your cheek would qualify for that...second one."

Kate glanced over with another semi-evil smirk. "Well, I did say it was the least. Not that it was the very height of my hopes."

[therewaslife]

"Marshall would be sad that you're wasting good icing," he said, leaning closer and kissing, not licking, her frosty cheek. He had to work up to licking.

"This frosting's from a can," Kate murmured with a chuckle. "He would not mourn it."

[therewaslife]

"He might mourn it," Bod said and kissed her again, licking the frosting off his lips once he'd done that. "It might be very high quality frosting."

"It's not," Kate sighed, softly. "I bought it. I applied it. It's not high quality."

[therewaslife]

"Does that mean I can do this?" Bod asked and did finally lick her cheek slowly and softly. "And you won't mind it?"

[vanillajello]

"I don't mind," she murmured. The little shiver suggested the same. "I already asked you to do it, dummy."

[therewaslife]

"Don't call me names," Bod said and gave her cheek a longer, firmer lick. "I'll stop licking you and then you'll be sad and I'll be enjoying all the residual frosting."

[vanillajello]

"You wouldn't do that, dummy," Kate replied, eyes closing despite herself. "It's our anniversary, and this is the last time we're gonna have totally to ourselves for a while. We're supposed to be halfway across the multiverse later today, remember?"
