Kate, who had handwavily been to the library on Tuesday, had come out to the front steps of her cabin to read. She didn’t want to go to the campfires yet – mainly because she wanted get some actual reading done – but she didn’t want to seclude herself entirely by hanging out in her alcove, either. This location was a compromise.

Bobby the penguin was out too, walking around in the grass. ”Squeak if you see anyone coming with a kiddie pool,” Kate told him before she settled to read.

[Open! I'm around until this says I no longer am. ETA: Bedtime for the mun, bye.]

Kate was having the randomest dream, filled with trippy images that didn’t really connect to one another. Little did she know that being awake wouldn’t be any less surreal.

She was already singing when she woke up.

Cut for lyrics. )

Kate kept her mouth tightly shut for some time after the song ended, thinking the singing might start again. When it seemed that it was done for now, she wondered aloud, ”Now what the fuck was that?”

[Open for cabinmate reactions, as these things tend to be. Took me some time to decide which song with somewhat random lyrics to use...]

Kate had been putting this off for over a day now. She had bought herself some time by realizing she had to recharge her phone, but now it was charged and she couldn’t stall any longer. Sitting on her bed, she took a deep breath and selected her mother’s number on her cell. It was time to lie again.

An unexpectedly short call )

She hung up, and afterwards just stared at her phone for a while, a blank expression on her face. That had so not gone well at all. And she should have known that her mom would transition because of all the stressing and worrying. She should have known.

There was a distinct possibility of crying today.

[Establishy, but can be open if cabinmates want to poke their heads in. Contents of call NFB, saying she made a call is fine.]

After nearly a week of lodging at Ninth Hell, Kate had finally made it to her own cabin on Saturday, after her transformation back into human form. Since she hadn’t bumped into any of her new cabinmates when she was bringing in her stuff, she had now thought it best to locate herself in a spot where she was most likely to meet them. It was best to get all the introductions and ”yeah I was a cat for a while, that’s why I haven’t been around”s out of the way as soon as possible.

This meant that she was now sitting on one of the chairs in the living room, playing a game on her cellphone.
