Fandom really liked raising the bar in what Kate considered to be an awful Monday morning, didn't it? Right now, the absolute top of the list was waking up at the trooper station and feeling thankful for having been there for about a day and a half, because everything before the detainment was gut-wrenchingly horrible.

After she'd been handwavily released from the station, Kate had made her way back across town to the dorms, where the first thing she ended up doing was spending a good while in the bathroom, puking her guts out at the vivid memory of blood flowing down her throat, because the hallways were reminding her of that pretty painfully. Yeah, she -- she needed to get out, right now. She hurriedly threw some stuff in her bag and then she was off. Not even really noticing the island's new location, she left a few uncertain handwavy voicemails (for Bod, and for Jack, and after some hesitation, also for Nathan – just quick messages to say she was normal, sorry, going home, sorry sorry sorry, and would be in touch) on the walk over to the causeway, and then turned her phone off.

She needed to not be here and not deal with this, just for a while.

Yeah, so, Kate had had a weird, unsettling feeling since getting back on the island on Sunday. And now? Bobby and a bunch of other people had gotten themselves fucking kidnapped. And something was... growing, on the island, which she supposed might have been a little better than when things had just been disappearing into nothingness, but honestly, she didn't care. Weirdness was weirdness, and she didn't want it.

It was a direct consequence of this that Kate now had a portal to Kansas scheduled to leave in an hour, and was packing rather frantically, just shoving things into her backpack seemingly at random.

She just couldn't stay. She couldn't.

This whole packing thing was starting to get really familiar. It was getting easier and easier to gather up clothes and other necessities. Kate had already lost count of the times she'd gone home in the last few months, when earlier she could easily go months and months without going back.

It may have seemed like a random change, but it really wasn't. The truth was that there was less to run away from at home right now. The Gregson family circus was currently not staging any shows of mental illness and embarrassment. It was actually easy to go home.

And this time, she'd found a ridiculously cheap portal connection to Kansas City for later in the evening, so going was even easier. Even if she'd just seen Zack's email and been reminded that Hannibal had said he was coming around for Ino's birthday, which probably meant she'd miss seeing him. But, she'd been intending to storm his new New York dwelling as soon as possible, anyway. She'd make up for missing his visit then. Couldn't let a deal like that Portalocity ticket just pass her by.

Of course, earlier in the week she'd also found out that Lynda P. Frazier's check had bounced. But that had nothing to do with her decision to travel. Nothing at all. None.

[ooc: Open door/post! Your last chance to talk to Kate face to face until Monday, at least.]

"...Dammit."

Some weeks ago, Kate had had a little accident with glitter. Namely, she'd dumped a containerful of it in one of her desk drawers. She'd tried to clean it all up, but it was like the drawer was generating more of it by itself, and so she'd given up and just avoided using anything in the drawer until she absolutely had to.

Well, now that time had come, because she was packing and wanted to take a certain sketchbook back to her mom. And it happened to be in that drawer, and so she’d taken it out and yeah. Now there seemed to be glitter all over everything, and especially her hands, which just made it spread more.

But whatever. Glitter wasn't the end of the world. She was going to get everything packed now, glitterified or not, and then maybe head into town for a massive DDR session later. It was her last day at Fandom before a week in Overland Park; she wasn't about to let that get ruined.

[ooc: Open door & post, last chance to talk to her face-to-face before she goes to Kansas. I'm around on and off all day.]
