It had been a weird weekend, and the weirdness was still leaking into Kate's week now. Even with her truly awesome skills of repression, getting the best possible friend and losing him in the span of three days was not easy to take.

So, Kate looked for distractions. And right now, she was finding one in sitting on the front steps of her cabin with her laptop.

Catching up on her online coursework. French, to be exact.

The world should be afraid.

It was a pretty tired Kate who made her way back to her room after the First Aid workshop, her head buzzing with everything she'd kept back while she worked the simulation triage horror situation.

All those cots blood blood blood Becka pain destruction death things that have happened things that could happen things that--

She turned the music up. Not loud enough to upset the neighbors, but just loud enough to drown out some of her thoughts.

And then she just flopped heavily onto her bed. She'd probably be here a while.

[ooc: Post is open, door is cracked, girl could use a distraction.]

After hanging around Mitchell's office and going to her only class of the day, Kate had come back to her room and was actually doing some homework for once.

Funnily enough, it looked exactly like lazing about, as it consisted of googling around for films or books that she could connect to haptephobia. It wasn't really hard work; there were many things that could easily be linked to a fear of touching.

She was also trying to figure out a good time to go back home for a bit. A weekend, most likely. She hadn't seen her family since Christmas, and she was starting to feel it. Still somehow used to having them around and annoying her all the time. So, a trip back was in order. Actually having to be with them would make her remember why she'd decided to leave in the first place.

All this thinking was taking place on her bed with her laptop in front of her, of course. Kate only ever used her desk for storage purposes, or so it seemed. And, for a change, she wasn't snacking on anything. There had been cake, come on. She had limits.

... Also, she just hadn't had the energy to go out and get anything.

[ooc: Open door and post! I've been craving Sacher cake since yesterday.]

Kate had been back from her weekly trip to Baltimore pretty late last night. After her ballet class had ended, she'd spent a long time just walking around, trying to convince herself she didn't have to go back.

But the reality was that she didn't have the money to stay off the island. Her monthly allowance from her parents wasn't coming in until next week. So she'd just have to deal. There were girly plans for Sunday. That helped, a little.

But the idea of a few days anywhere but here wouldn't leave her alone.

So, now, after a morning session down at the dance studio, Kate was once again lying on her stomach on her bed, with her laptop in front of her, and she was looking for the cheapest and least romantic place all of Maryland, and a way to get there next weekend.

She thought she might head to the club fair in the afternoon, but it was entirely possible she wouldn't.
